It is time for introspection.I found that i am one of the greatest fools present on earth.My mom's motorolla cell phone was not able to make outgoing calls.So i checked the balance every thing good there.Dialed the support number which worked fine.Reset the phone and again found unable to call.Now  i thought the phone was bad.I didn;t use the part present between my two years.I plan to go to Kollam (about 60 km) to get it serviced at the motorolla authorised service.But just thought of checking it up at the local mobile store.The guy checked the balance and pointed me that the date has been expired in the account.These BSNL guys won't put a decent notice or sms when the validity of the prepaid connection gets expired.Now what i charged for one year and laughed at myself. Note: For those laughing there, i know you had your own moments of fun.There is a fool, hero, a villian, an enthusiast, a tragedian and a comedian in every one of us even though you admit it or not.

Last week we heard that MTNL launched 3G services in Mumbai and Delhi.Now BSNL has also launched 3G services in different cities.The private players are yet to get the spectrum.Customers need to have a 3G enabled handset and they will have to purchase a new USIM (Universal Subscribed Identification Module) for Rs 300 which will have a validity period of 7 days. Why should you shift to 3G from the current 2G or 2.5G networks? The guys at Idea are the best ones doing fraud legally.I have been mentioning this fact in my previous posts too.Unlimited Internet access via GPRS and EDGE costed Rs 9 per day on your mobiles for some time.Now they have hiked it to 25 Rs.Airtel has also hiked the charge.It is interesting to note that this is a time when BSNL has started giving CDMA 1X service at 250 Rs per month. Rs 9 -------> Rs 25 I do not justify this hike blaming inflation.Moreover the service sucks.It get disconnected now and again.To deactivate you need to call the customer care number which is always busy.This time i tried calling continuously for 2 hours.At last got connected and deactivated the plan.The call center guy told me that existing customers can still use the service at Rs 9 for six months after activation as a token from Idea. After trying out the GPRS EDGE service of Idea for which i was billed 9 Rs per day,i found that it was not worth the money.The network always gives preference to their voice network and data gets too slow.I travelled with my laptop at different towns of Kerala, and found the service was poor.It gets a little better at night.So a person cannot use internet on travel using this service.The net gets disrupted every now and then.The service is really bad.So users wait till they upgrade their network.

BSNL has finally acted to the tariff cut by the private players.Remember Vodafone, Airtel and Idea had reducted the std tariffs couple of months back.Now there is good reason for the customer to smile. STD Charges Rs 2.40 currently for mobile and landline users NEW - 1.20 per minute.This would mean that landline users in rural areas can make std calls at 80 paisa per minute.They can also make calls to local mobile phones at 60 paisa against the current rate of 1.20 rupees per minute. Roaming charges is also reduced with effect from Tuesday, 10th june 2008 midnight.

Idea Cellular is heavily advertising over TV that it's STD charges are reduced from current 2.75 Rs per month to 1.30 Rs per month.Roaming charges would be Rs 1 per minute and 1.5 Rs for STD while Roaming.They are saying that from 9th May 2008 onwards all existing and new subscribers can avail this facility. But in small letters in all print and TV ads ,there is something written.To avail this facility the user need to SMS "NEWSTD" to 55101.Now you send the sms and get back a message saying "Your request has been received.The new Prepaid std tariff of Rs 1.3 /- per minute will be activated within 48 hrs." So wat is this all about.Is it for technical reasons?Certainly NOT.....The Electronics Engineer in me tells........... It is just that idea cellular want to rob the subscribers who see from the news paper or hears from radio or TV that their std rates are going slashed from friday may 9 2008 and start making STD calls to their dear ones (or others).The IDEA...
