Life gifted by God

During his creation, after making donkey, God told,"You will be named Donkey.It is your destiny to carry the burden from dawn till dusk and work hard.You will live 50 years.You shall take grass and leaves as food".The donkey replied,"My lord, i am accepting your judgement.But i have a prayer.50 years is too long for me to survive my boring life.So could you please reduce my lifespan to 20 years".God granted his request.

Next god created a dog and told him,"You will guard the house of man and would be obedient 

servant to him.You will eat what Man feeds you and leave 30 years on earth".The dog told him 

that 30 years is too long to lead a life of a servant and asked him to reduce it to 15 and it was  granted soon.

The third creation was a monkey.He was made so that he would jump from one branch to 

another.God told that you will leave 20 years without sitting anywhere idle but jumping from 

branch to branch.Monkey told god that without a static place living 10 years is itself difficult.So 

could you take back the remaining ten years?And god heard that too.

Finally man was created.God told,"You are man.My only creation who can think and develop and excel with knowledge.Your mind and brain will be superior to others and you rule the world for 20 years.Man replied ,"Granting this much powers and 20 years is too little for me.Could you give me back the 30 years rejected by donkey, 15 years rejected by dog and 10 years rejected by monkey."And God granted him what he asked.

So man lives his life for 20 years and after marriage lives the life of a donkey for 30 years  carrying the burden of family matters working dawn to dusk to make the life of his family better and 15 years he live the life of a dog guarding the house for his children and wife staying there taking the food that they give.Finally he lives the life of a monkey for ten years depending on his son or daughter at their mercy.......... and making monkey like gestures to please his 

grandchildren.

The Change has Come

While writing on this post, i am watching the live telecast of Obama's swearing in ceremony.Barack Hussein Obama's dream run to the white house was remarkable.Change 

was his keyword and what remains to see is how he does that to the system.Atleast Americans 

can hope for the best in the coming years, even though they are sinked throat level in trouble.

But the indian have nothing to hope.Even if Advani win, he won't be powerful.We have seen the rot in BJP when A.B.Vajpayee was the Captain.Whichever party rules, all shady things will be there.Also BJP is not strong to win India.Mayawati will emerge as a trouble maker.

Even if some one from either of the major parties (BJP or Congress) win, there won't be much 

chance.Because government is a system consists of misdeeds of different administrations.One person or idea cannot change things all of a sudden.In india if some on with a resolve happens to sit in such a position, the clowns over there will throw him away.We have seen A.P.J. Adbul Kalam didn't get his second term eventhough being popular and neutral image among the indians.Because the jokers are afraid of his iconic status.

But change should happen at the top.Otherwise it cannot.If our rulers follow the dharma, it is 

sure that the subjects will also tend to be dharmic ones.The fact that the politicians do all the 

wrong doings and yet are hailed by the public.As a society ,our moral values are on a decline. That is why we get the rulers that we deserve.

And back to Obama...I feel jealous about the Americans.Wish he brings change to America.Wish he brings peace to the financial markets.Wish him be instrumental in softening the Uncle Sam's image in the world.Wish him make america a proud and great nation rather than an imperialist and rogue nation.

We are living through a time when we cannot expect the government and society to work their part and will make you happy.We have seen that cars queuing up and people quarelling for who's first at the petrol pumps when Public Sector Oil Company Officers and Truck Owners striked last week.The utility companies of the kerala state governments is in shreds, namely KSEB.

It is good that government owns KSEB as it is a strategic industry.Power Sector is a facilitator.If it does well, we can expect kerala to make progress. Now what is happening over there.No innovations and mismanagement is the keyword of KSEB.Missing production targets and increasing transmission and distribution losses.I know that the same engineers and administrators can work well and do excellence if they are recruited in some company in the Middle East(Gulf).So it is not about the brain.It is only about the will and the political and trade union culture we have in Kerala.

Why we need a loss making public sector firm?Me, the taxpayer need to pay for the inefficency 

of some clown in the f***ing  board.Meter Rent, Installation charge, education cess on tax, 

thermal subsidy.......this land belongs to devil whose raj is running.

I have embraced the idea of a home generator set dumping the so called "inverter" which KSEB also do not suggest for it's consumers during the usual half an hour power cut.These clowns will sure lead to four or five hours power cut during the day time.To keep up my blogging and maintenance of my websites.I bought a small genset from near by town.It was not a bargain.

Uninterruptable Power System (UPS)

This thing is what local people call "inverter".This device employes a rectifier, battery charger,  and a backup battery and an inverter.Battery is charged using the device's battery charger 

circuit.So ac power is converted to dc and is stored as Chemical Energy in the battery.Now when mains power is on, the load uses the mains.When mains goes off (when kseb gifts you darkness), the high speed switching circuit switches to the inverter circuit which converts dc from the battery to ac power that can be used for your appliances.

Advantage

1. Computers can be used as switching happens in microseconds (or milliseconds).
   
2. Automatic Switching happens so you do not have to bother about any thing.
   
3. Easy to install if you know a certified Electrician.
   
4. No sound or noise pollution.Can be said as a clean and green thing.
   
5. If you are not using it, the power stays in the battery.While in the generator, if you are not using it, then also the fuel is going to burn away.
6. You don't want to hunt for kerosene and petrol.

Disadvantages

1. Bulky Device with big battery looking bad in your living room if you are planning to keep it there.
2. Batteries are expensive now.
3. Buy good ups (read inverter the world marketing people have taught the public), the local ones are going to get bad certainly.Only a skilled technician can repair the local ones.The branded ones have their own service centres.
4. You know the habits of batteries.Won't be good after some use.They won't hold charge as they used to after each discharge.

Home Genset (Generator Set)

A home genset is a power generator that produces electricity by burning fossil fuels.There is a 

4 stroke engine similiar to your motorcycle's engine.This engine drives a generator and power is generated due to electromagnetic induction (i forgot all those basic things).Now Honda is the leader in generator sets in India.This thing certainly pollutes.Different models running on petrol, kerosene and LPG are available.Now portable series are small light weight generators for home users providing lesser power.They are noisy.The model i bought has 85dBA noiselevel.For generators providing more than 1KVA , government has made mandatory to make them silent.So the manufacturers cover the body with metal casing and so it becomes silent.

I initially planned to buy EXK 1200 which is recoil start and provides 1200 VA of electricity and is in silent series.This thing costs 33,500 and it is sure to use a lot of kerosene.If i am using 

300Watts from a generator capable of providing 1000W, even if i use 300W, the same amount of fuel that would produce 1000W will burn away in that period of time.So i settled for EBK 650.

Honda Portable EBK650

EBK650 weighs 22 kgs and has a red and black body.It used petrol to start and runs in petrol. This is because petrol has a lower boiling point than kerosene.Before each run, you need to drain the kerosene from the the generator which is an easy process.This is to ensure that the engine starts in petrol.You can run a EBk650 for 6.5 continous hours.It can store 3.4 litres of kerosene and 0.27 litres of petrol.The starting mode is recoil start means you need to pull a string to start similiar to kickstart in a bike.Self start costs 7000 rupees more and i feel pulling the string is better than gifting 7000 rupees to honda and the dealer.It provides rated power of 450 VA and a maximum output power of 550VA.

Installation

Call only electricians who know how to do it.You need to install an change over switch (automatic or manual).Manual change over switches are cheaper but then you need to manually change the switch to generator when power goes and similiarly back to mains when mains come back.Automatic change over Switches switches to generator power but you need to pull recoil and start it.When power comes, the  automatic changeover switch switches off the generator.That is why i say additional wiring goes in to the generator.An electrician with good knowlege can only install this.If you gave chance to some poor guy, he may mess up with it.

Advantage

1. A person working online can work online even when power goes for a day.Remember a ups need to get charged if all charge goes.Here you need to refill the fuel only.
2. Complaint with KSEB and saves power of the nation.Power gets wasted in the batteries.

Disadvantage

1. Poisonous Carbon Monoxide and irritating noise.
2. Kerosene is not readily available.LPGs cannot be used as they are subsidized for domestic use only.Never economical with commercial LPG cylinders.
3. Starting Process is difficult for ladies and housewives who are going to use this.
4. Petrol gets evaporated in the hot tanks.(Maneesh's wild guess and not scientifically proved)
5. Shell out money for fuel.
6. Maintenance like oil change etc needed once in a while.

How to Start?

1. Drain kerosene from the carburator (easy process) and pour it back in the tank.
2. Put engine switch to Start with choke on.
3. Off the choke  and shift engine switch to run.
4. Put Circuit Breaker to On.

How to Stop?

1. Put Circuit Breaker to Off.
2. Put Engine Switch to Off.

Himachal Pradesh focuses on Ayurveda to promote health tourism

Taking a cue from Kerala in promoting health tourism, the Himachal Pradesh government has decided to promote ayurvedic treatment ‘Panchkarma’ on a wider to woo tourists.

Health Minister Rajeev Bindal, who returned from a tour of Kerala recently, has directed the ayurvedic department in the state to prepare a proposal for popularising the same in HP.

സമ്പദ്‍വ്യവസ്ഥയുടെ രാഷ്ട്രീയം
ലോകമെങ്ങുമുള്ള എല്ലാ മലയാളികള്‍ക്കും എന്റെ ഹൃദയം നിറഞ്ഞ പുതുവല്‍സരാശംസകള്‍. പോയ വര്‍ഷത്തിന്റെ ദുരിതങ്ങളും ആധികളും ആശങ്കകളുമില്ലാത്ത നന്മനിറഞ്ഞ ഒരു വര്‍ഷമായിരിക്കട്ടെ ഇതെന്നു പ്രത്യാശിക്കാം. ആധികളും ആശങ്കകളുമില്ലാത്ത വര്‍ഷമായിരിക്കട്ടെ എന്ന ആശംസയ്ക്കു ഭേദപ്പെടുത്താന്‍ കഴിയാത്ത ചില പ്രതിസന്ധികളിലൂടെയാണ് നമ്മള്‍ ഈ വര്‍ഷത്തെ അനുകൂലമാക്കിയെടുക്കേണ്ടത്.അതൊരു കനത്ത വെല്ലുവിളിയാണ്. മാധ്യമങ്ങളും സാമ്പത്തികവിദഗ്ധരുമൊക്കെ ചര്‍ച്ചചെയ്തു പഴകിയ ആഗോളസാമ്പത്തികപ്രതിസന്ധി നമ്മളെ മാത്രം ബാധിക്കില്ല എന്ന ചിലരുടെ വിശ്വാസം സത്യത്തില്‍ എന്നെ വിസ്മയിപ്പിക്കുകയാണ്. അമേരിക്കയുള്‍പ്പെടുന്ന വന്‍ശക്തികളെ മാത്രം ബാധിക്കുന്ന ഒന്നാണ് ഈ സാമ്പത്തിക പ്രതിസന്ധി എന്നും ഐടി, ബാങ്കിങ് രംഗത്തുള്ള ലക്ഷങ്ങള്‍ ശമ്പളം വാങ്ങുന്ന പുത്തന്‍കൂറ്റ് പ്രൊഫഷണലുകള്‍ക്കാണ് ജോലി നഷ്ടപ്പെടാന്‍ പോകുന്നതെന്നുമൊക്കെയുള്ള ചിന്ത പലരും പങ്കുവച്ചു കേള്‍ക്കുമ്പോള്‍ ലോകസാമ്പത്തികവ്യവസ്ഥിതിയെ വട്ടംകറക്കുന്ന ഈ പ്രതിഭാസത്തെ ഇത്ര ലാഘവത്തോടെ കാണാന്‍ നമുക്കെങ്ങനെ സാധിക്കുന്നു എന്നതില്‍ വിസ്മയിക്കാതെ തരമില്ല. മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ മുന്‍ഗണന നല്‍കുന്ന കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് സമൂഹവും മുന്‍ഗണന നല്‍കുന്നു എന്നു പറയുന്നത് സ്വാഭാവികമാണ്. എന്നാല്‍, ഏതു ദുരന്തമോ പ്രതിസന്ധിയോ ആയാലും മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ അതാഘോഷിക്കുന്ന ദിവസത്തിനപ്പുറത്തേക്ക് അത് ഒരോര്‍മപ്പെടുത്തലായി, ഒരു കരുതലായി ജീവിതത്തിലേക്കു സ്വീകരിക്കാന്‍ എത്ര പേര്‍ക്കു കഴിയുന്നു എന്നത് പ്രസ്കതമായ ചോദ്യമാണ്. ഇരിക്കൂറില്‍ ഒട്ടേറെ കുരുന്നുകളുടെ ജീവനെടുത്ത സംഭവം ദുരന്തം കഴിഞ്ഞ് ഒരു മാസം കഴിയും മുമ്പേ എല്ലാവരും മറന്നു കഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു. നമ്മുടെ കുട്ടികള്‍ സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്ന സുരക്ഷിതമല്ലാത്ത വഴിയോരങ്ങള്‍ക്കും അശ്രദ്ധമായി പായുന്ന വാഹനങ്ങള്‍ക്കും ഒരു മാറ്റവും സംഭവിച്ചിട്ടില്ല. സാമ്പത്തികമാന്ദ്യവും അത്തരത്തില്‍ വിസ്മരിക്കപ്പെടുന്നതിലെ അപകടം നമ്മുടെ സാമ്പത്തികജീവിതത്തെ തകിടം മറിക്കുന്ന ദിവസം വരെ തിരിച്ചറിയാന്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ലെന്നു വന്നേക്കാം. പെട്ടെന്നൊരു ദിവസം മുതല്‍ ഊണിനു സ്പെഷല്‍ ഒഴിവാക്കുന്നതോ, ടാക്സിയില്‍ സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്ന ആള്‍ ഓട്ടോറിക്ഷയിലേക്കു മാറുന്നതോ മാന്ദ്യത്തെ നേരിടാനുള്ള വഴികളല്ല. കൃത്യമായ ഒരു വേഗത്തില്‍ യാഥാര്‍ഥ്യമായിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്ന ആ സത്യത്തെ അങ്ങനെ ആര്‍ക്കെങ്കിലും നേരിട്ടു തോല്‍പിക്കാനാവുമെന്നും ഞാന്‍ കരുതുന്നില്ല. തകരാതിരിക്കാന്‍ മാന്ദ്യത്തിനനുയോജ്യമായ സാമ്പത്തിക കാലാവസ്ഥ സൃഷ്ടിക്കുക എന്നതാവണം പ്രധാനം. പുതിയ സാമ്പത്തികശീലങ്ങളും കൌശലപൂര്‍വമുള്ള നിക്ഷേപങ്ങളുമുണ്ടാവണം. ഓഹരി- റിയല്‍ എസ്റ്റേറ്റ് മേഖലകളിലെ നിക്ഷേപസ്വഭാവങ്ങളാണ് മാന്ദ്യത്തിനു കാരണമായതെന്നു സാമ്പത്തികവിദഗ്ധര്‍ ചൂണ്ടിക്കാണിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ അധ്വാനത്തിന്റെയും ഉല്‍പാദനത്തിന്റെയും ഇനിയും ചൂഷണം ചെയ്യപ്പെടാത്ത സാധ്യതകളിലേക്ക് നമ്മള്‍ എത്തിനോക്കണമെന്നാണ് എന്റെ അഭിപ്രായം. കൃഷി ചെയ്യാന്‍ എസ്റ്റേറ്റും തൊഴില്‍ ചെയ്യാന്‍ പിഎഫും ഗ്രാറ്റുവിറ്റിയും വേണമെന്ന അഭിപ്രായം എനിക്കില്ല. മലയാളികള്‍ അനുകൂല്യങ്ങള്‍ക്കാണ് പ്രാധാന്യം കല്‍പിക്കുന്നത്, തൊഴിലിനല്ല. ഓരോരുത്തരും തങ്ങളുടെ തൊഴിലിനോടു പുലര്‍ത്തുന്ന ആത്മാര്‍ത്ഥതയും തൊഴിലാളി എന്ന നിലയില്‍ നല്‍കുന്ന സേവനത്തിന്റെ ഗുണനിലവാരവും സ്വയമൊന്നു പരിശോധിക്കാന്‍ തയ്യാറായാല്‍ ഏതു മാന്ദ്യത്തെയും ചെറുക്കാനുള്ള പ്രതിരോധശേഷി നമ്മുടെ സമ്പദ്വ്യവസ്ഥയില്‍ നിന്നു തന്നെ നേടാനാവും. അധ്വാനിക്കുക എന്നത് ഒരു ഭാരമോ കടമയോ അല്ല, ഒരു ശീലമാണ്. ഇക്കാര്യത്തില്‍ മഹത്വചനങ്ങളെക്കാള്‍ പ്ളസ് വണ്‍ വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥിയായ ഒരു പതിനെട്ടുകാരന്‍ നല്‍കുന്ന പാഠങ്ങള്‍ മഹത്തായ മാതൃകയാണ്. കോഴിക്കോടു സ്വദേശിയായ ഡാനിഷ് മജീദിനെക്കുറിച്ച് മാധ്യമങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്നാണു ഞാനറിഞ്ഞത്. പശുവളര്‍ത്തലില്‍ താല്‍പര്യം തോന്നിയ ഡാനിഷ് 15 പശുക്കളുമായി ഒരു ഡെയറി ഫാം നടത്തുന്നു എന്നത് നിസ്സാരകാര്യമല്ല. ചിട്ടയായി അന്തസ്സുള്ള ജീവിതം നയിക്കുന്ന ഈ മിടുക്കനെ കാണുമ്പോള്‍ തങ്ങള്‍ ഒന്നും ചെയ്യുന്നില്ലല്ലോ എന്ന തോന്നല്‍ കേരളത്തിലെ ചെറുപ്പക്കാര്‍ക്കുണ്ടാവേണ്ടതാണെന്നാണ് എന്റെ അഭിപ്രായം. ഏതു പ്രതിസന്ധിയെയും തരണം ചെയ്യാന്‍ സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ നടപടി പ്രതീക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത് പ്രായോഗികമല്ല. സര്‍ക്കാരിന് അതിന്റേതായ ഒരു സംവിധാനമുണ്ട് അതുകൊണ്ടു തന്നെ കാലതാമസവുമുണ്ട്. തനതായ മാര്‍ഗങ്ങളും പരിഹാരങ്ങളും കണ്ടെത്തുക, പറന്നുയരാനാവില്ലെന്നുണ്ടെങ്കില്‍ ചിറകറ്റുവീഴാതിരിക്കാനെങ്കിലും പരിശ്രമിക്കുക. പ്രതിസന്ധി കടന്നുവരുമ്പോള്‍ അതിനെ അവസരങ്ങളാക്കി മുതലാക്കാനുള്ള മാര്‍ഗങ്ങളും ഒപ്പമെത്തുന്നുണ്ട്. ലോകത്തെ ഏതു സമ്പന്ന മെട്രോയിലും ലഭിക്കുന്ന സൌകര്യങ്ങള്‍ ഇന്നു നമ്മുടെ കൊച്ചിയിലും ലഭിക്കും. അതേ സമയം, കഴിഞ്ഞ വര്‍ഷം മാത്രം ഈ രാജ്യത്ത് ആത്മഹത്യ ചെയ്ത കര്‍ഷകര്‍ 17,000 പേരാണ്. ഈ വൈരുധ്യം ഇന്ത്യയുടെ മാത്രം പ്രത്യേകതയാണ്. എത്ര തീവ്രമാണെന്നു പറഞ്ഞാലും ഇന്ത്യയെപ്പോലുള്ള ഒരു രാജ്യത്ത് ആഗോളപ്രതിഭാസങ്ങളുടെ സ്വാധീനത്തിന് ഒരു പരിധിയുണ്ടെന്നു വേണം കരുതാന്‍.
