RakshaBanshan 2008 Falls on August 16th

The Indian festival Rakshabandhan falls on August 16th this year.It is a festival of brotherhood and the celebration of love between brothers and sisters. On this auspicious day,Brothers give sweet to their sisters and in return they tie a thread around his wrist. The knot called Rakhi depicts that he is bound to the girl as his brother even though he is born in a different family. The brother is required to protect the girl. The security of the girl is in the responsibility of the guy from now on.

This tradition is still now as the remembrance of bond between Lord Sreekrishna and Draupati (Wife of Pancha Pandavas). This is not a festival celebrated by hindus but by the indians as a whole.
